'FIFA is always against Uruguay.'

Date published: Friday 2nd December 2022 9:12 -Luis Suarez has astonishingly claimed that FIFA have an agenda against Uruguay and has asked for “explanations” after his side were denied two penalties.

12 years on from their dramatic quarter-final in South Africa, the South American and African nations faced off in this year’s tournament. After denying Ghana a goal and a place in the semi-final, Asamoah Gyan missed the spot-kick and Uruguay won the match on penalties.Andre Ayew – even more typically – missed the shot from 12 yards and Uruguay went on to score twice through Giorgio de Arrascaeta before the break.

The angry Uruguayans then felt Edinson Cavani was fouled in injury time – he definitely wasn’t, but they were still incensed and the experienced striker pushed over the monitor on his way down the tunnel after the full-time whistle.
