Ahead of the Oscars, CharlizeAfrica's longtime stylist Leslie Fremar discusses the star's evolving red carpet style.
’s easy wearability. “Maria’s clothes are just so wearable,” said Fremar. “If you go into the store, you want to buy everything. There’s T-shirts and there’s really well-tailored jackets. These are things that Charlize likes to wear in her everyday, and then when you style them with hair and makeup, that’s really what elevates the look past this everyday feeling.” As for Dior’s couture offering, Fremar’s long-standing relationship with the label always ensures a fits-like-a-glove end result.

At the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Theron also elevated her look with an unexpected net top. “That mesh top was meant to be worn under the green Golden Globes dress, and then we decided we wanted to leave it with a little more flesh,” said Fremar. “When we were getting ready for the Palm Springs Film Festival, she was like, ‘Maybe the the mesh would make it a little more retro.’ We ended up using this couture shirt under a ready-to-wear piece.
