Left vs. right: Which do you prefer?

Chances are that you sleep on the same side of the bed each night, whether it's the side closest to the door so you can get up if your kids need you or the side furthest from the window to avoid the streetlight shining in your eyes. But what seems like a habit—or even a purely practical decision—may reveal a lot more about you than you'd think according to new research.

If you sleep on the left side... You're likely more left-brained, meaning you're more imaginative and creative. The results also showed that people who sleep on the left side of the bed prefer oldies music, drama flicks, and beer and often lean more left politically. Besides personality, what affects which side of the bed we choose? If you're skeptical that your sleeping position is determined by your personality, it turns out there are other factors that can come into play. According to the study, 40 percent of people select the side of the bed that's easiest for them to get in and out of while 31 percent make their decision based on what their partner prefers. Another 25 percent choose the side that has the best view of the TV.
