One student was injured by gunfire, and another was hurt by “debris,' in a shooting outside a Dallas-area high school on Monday morning. Police say the suspected shooter never entered the school and was arrested soon after officers arrived on the scene.
ARLINGTON, Texas — One student was killed in a shooting outside a Dallas-area high school on Monday morning and police arrested a minor suspected of opening fire, officials said.
"We do believe that we have the one shooter detained and the weapon recovered," Arlington police spokesperson Jesse Minton told reporters. "We don't believe that this was anything where the student was going to try to shoot multiple people at the school," Minton said."We believe it may have been targeted."Arlington police said the suspect never entered the school and was arrested soon after officers arrived on the scene. They said the scene was secure in a tweet at 7:21 a.m.NBC News does not usually name minors charged with a crime, even those charged as adults.
