Striking community nurses have told how they are being forced to care for an unsafe number of patients and feel “pressurised” into doing things that they are not supposed to do while the NHS is in crisis.
“If you see holistic assessments from head to toe, if we are doing it in the right way, one person can see only three to four or five patients, but unfortunately we are seeing 14 to 15 patients a day,” she said.Due to understaffing, Ms Kaur said“We want to spend a lot of time, especially in community. When elderly people are alone they want to have chat and we want to do that. Whenever I go to someone’s house I want to make them a cup of tea. I want to sit with them.
