The actor and West End star made his debut on the BBC dance contest last night
Strictly Come Dancing has made its much-anticipated return to screens to fill the Saturday night slot in the run up to Christmas. Fans of the BBC dance contest have now been introduced to each of the 15 celebrities who are in the running to take home the Glitterball trophy this year.
Amongst the stars hoping to win over the judges is actor and West End star Layton Williams, who is best known on TV for playing Stephen Carmichael in Bad Education. The 28-year-old, who is from Bury, made his Strictly debut last night and has since clapped back at criticism over his participation in the show.READ MORE: Get the latest Strictly Come Dancing news and gossip here

As one viewer wrote: "Leighton got on my nerves, just be yourself. And why did they shove Angela at the back," the Strictly star quipped: "Who's Leighton?," addressing the incorrect spelling of his name.
