Barisan Nasional's Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah , and Perikatan Nasional's Mohamad Haizan Jaafar are contesting for the Mahkota state seat.
Returning officer Azurawati Wahid announced that they have received the nomination papers from both BN’s candidate, Mr Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah, and PN’s candidate, Mr Mohamad Haizan Jaafar.“After going through their papers and being satisfied, none of their nomination papers were rejected. Ms Azurawati, who is also Kluang Municipal Council president, said this during the announcement held at the nomination centre at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail on Sept 14.
The Mahkota seat became vacant following the death of its assemblyman, Datuk Sharifah Azizah Syed Zain, 63, on Aug 2.
