The Stormers have confirmed the signing of tighthead prop Neethling Fouche to a new three-year contract, extending his stay with the Cape Town-based franchise until at least 2028.
The Stormers have continued their trend of astute signings by securing the services of tighthead prop Neethling Fouche on a new long-term contract. The experienced scrummaging force has agreed to a three-year extension with the Cape Town-based squad, following last week's announcement of double World Cup-winning Springbok Cobus Reinach joining the team next season.
Since joining the Stormers in 2018, Fouche has made 88 appearances for the team, along with 36 for Western Province, and his new contract will keep him in the blue and white until at least 2028. Fouche has become a pivotal player for the Stormers, renowned for his immense power and technically sound scrummaging, as well as his occasional creative contributions around the pitch. The 32-year-old has established himself as a reliable performer over several years and has also taken on a leadership role within the team. Despite attracting significant interest from several overseas clubs, Fouche has chosen to commit his future to the Stormers, believing that it offers him the best platform to represent his country. Director of rugby John Dobson expressed his confidence in Fouche's continued influence on the team over the next three years. 'Neethling is an incredible team man and as a tighthead prop is coming into his prime, so we are looking forward to even bigger things from him,' Dobson said. 'He competes with one of the greatest ever tightheads Frans Malherbe and keeps pushing his standards, so it is understandable that many other teams would love to have a player of Neethling’s stature in their squad. 'He is another player that has completely bought into the project here and plays a key role in helping develop the next generation of front-row stars, so we are thrilled to have him on our books for another three years,' he added.Fouche echoed his commitment to the Stormers, stating his deep connection to the team. 'Every time I put on the Stormers jersey I get quite emotional. This team means the world to me and I honestly don’t want to play my rugby anywhere else,' he said
