The Vodacom United Rugby Championship Grand Final between the Stormers and the Vodacom Bulls will be played in front of a maximum allowed capacity crowd of 31 000 after tickets sold out on Thursday.

The last 6000 tickets sold in two hours on Thursday ahead of the showpiece match between the two traditional rivals, which kicks off at 7.30pm on Saturday. Fans had hope that government would further relax ongoing Covid-19 regulations to allow for 100% capacity, up from the current 50% attendance for the match.

Former Springbok prop and current Cape Town deputy mayor Eddie Andrews even took to social media to plead with president Cyril Ramaphosa to further open the stadium. However, with no confirmation of any regulation amendments by Thursday evening, the Stormers announced that tickets have officially been sold out.
