The former Ibrox gaffer has opened up on his new role and the similarities of when he took over in Govan.
Steven Gerrard says the Al-Ettifaq project feeling more like Rangers convinced him it was time to get back in the dugout.
After his Villa exit, Gerrard bided his time before returning to management and it is his current role that ticked the boxes. He revealed FIVE questions that he asked himself that hit the nail on the head. An offer to go back to the English Premier League did arrive but he knew after his Villa spell that had he not got the reaction required, it would have been another major blow on his CV off the back of a tough time.
“So, I needed to sit down with people who shared a lot of things with me, maybe in terms of wanting to build something, in being given a little more time… that felt a bit more like Rangers. Now, I am not comparing clubs and sizes but in terms of a project.
