Stephen Strasburg, the 2019 World Series MVP, announced in August his plan to retire.
Strasburg had a retirement ceremony scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, but it was canceled by the Nationals, The Athletic’s Britt Ghiroli reported.
The Nationals reportedly canceled a retirement ceremony for pitcher Stephen Strasburg after financial terms broke down., but any progress was thwarted by pain. Strasburg’s last start came in June 2022 against the Marlins. He threw 83 pitches in 4 2/3 innings, while yielding seven runs on eight hits.Nevertheless, Strasburg at the time had felt it was a step in the positive direction.
