An independent disciplinary committee announced its decision to uphold Du Toit's expulsion on Monday, after he sought to challenge it. According to the committee, the university cannot strive for its envisioned future if it does not take decisive action and adopt a zero-tolerance approach to conduct that causes mental harm, is grossly insulting, hugely humiliating and demeans the human dignity of others. In May, Du Toit was filmed urinating on Ndwayana's desk and belongings at their Huis Marais residence.

He added that legal regulations were followed throughout the process, including detailed investigations that were carried out. According to Ramjugernath, the university and the independent committee followed the institution's disciplinary code for students in all the proceedings.
