Written by Katana Collins and drawn by Kewber Baal, Legenderry Red Sonja catapults the heroine into one of the most dangerous adventures of her career.
Dynamite Entertainment revealed more information about the forthcoming Legenderry Red Sonja on their website. Collins, who has collaborated with Sean Gordon Murphy on various titles set in the Batman: White Knight universe, pens a story that sees Red Sonja attempt to steal a notorious painting, one familiar to fans of classic literature. However, Sonja may have gotten in way over her head, and will have to rely on her brains, sword, and guns, if she wants to survive.
Legenderry Red Sonja Marks Collins Debut With the Character Collins, who has made a name for herself as a best-selling romance author, was excited to take on Red Sonja for the first time, saying: “to date, this is one of my favorite stories and characters I’ve ever written.” She was particularly excited by the steampunk-themed concept behind Legenderry Red Sonja, and teased “one hell of a cameo” for the story as well.
For 50 years, fans the world over have been thrilled by the exploits of Red Sonja. Loosely based on a Robert E. Howard character, Red Sonja was initially introduced as an ally to Conan the Barbarian, but has taken on a life of her own, even appearing in her own feature film. First published by Marvel in the 1970s, the character found a home at Dynamite Publishing in the early 2000s and has been there since.
A steampunk Red Sonja is a unique and genius take on the character. There have been other stories that have cast Sonja in different times and periods, and they work wonderfully, showing the depth and range of the character. Legenderry Red Sonja has the potential to be the best yet, pitting Red Sonja against Dorian Gray in Victorian England. It is far cry from her native Hyborian Age, and it will stretch Red Sonja to her limits.
