The all-conquering Free State Cheetahs will be eager to overtake the Vodacom Bulls when the Currie Cup resumes this week.
The Bulls, on 32 points, have played one match more than the Cheetahs, and come off a longer break after their scheduled clash with the Sharks in Durban was cancelled. The result was declared a draw and both teams received two log points.
Jake White is considering deploying the Bulls’ Vodacom United Rugby Championship players in the Currie Cup, and coach Gert Smal should welcome reinforcements for Saturday’s visit from Griquas to Loftus Versfeld. The Kimberley outfit beat the Lions by 23-17 last time out, and are only four points behind the third-placed Sharks, who host the sixth-placed Pumas at Kings Park on Saturday. WP have a bye this week.
