This year's theme is"Explore the Midway," and carnival games and corny dogs sizzling in the fryers are just a few of many traditions that are returning. There will be flashy, new cars parked at the Texas Auto Show; the midway buzzing with games; rodeo action in the Coliseum; a parade and light show; college football games; lots of shopping; and a few dozen concerts — each free, with admission into the fair.HOURS Gates open daily at 9 a.m.
LOCATION In the 277-acre Fair Park, just off Interstate 30, southeast of downtown Dallas. Using your GPS? Put in this address: 3809 Grand Ave., Dallas. COUPONS Most of the food and rides inside the fairgrounds must be paid for with coupons. You can get them online at tickets.bigtex.com or at stands inside the fair. Coupons are $1. They do not expire, so you can still use leftover coupons from previous years. Midway games require a Big Tex Game Card, which can be purchased at booths and kiosks near the game areas.PARKING Self-parking in State Fair lots is $20 per space.
EVENINGS Enter at 5 p.m. or later any day and you’ll pay the price of a child’s ticket, which costs $15 to $18.
