The Amakhosi are on a positive run of form in the DStv Premiership and bagged two wins on the bounce against Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby before overcoming Richards Bay FC last weekend.
Chiefs’ impressive form in the Premiership have revived their ambitions of a top-two finish that will enable participation in the CAF Champions League next season. Stars, meanwhile, dropped from second to third spot on the Championship table following two consecutive draws from their previous two matches.
The visitors, who are managed by Paulus Masehe and Thabo Nthethe, are chasing promotion to the top-flight and got to this stage of the Nedbank Cup with a 4-0 win over lower tier Mkhambathi. Chiefs needed a period of extra-time against Maritzburg United in the last round to get to this phase of the tournament and maintained their hopes to ending their eight-year trophy drought.
