Amend the Constitution so that there can be a national election to determine if each Justice should keep their spot
To become a Supreme Court justice, you are nominated by the president and then approved by the senate. Once approved you have life tenure, which means that you are allowed to stay in the position until you die, retire, or are removed.
Once you become a justice you are able to overturn laws you feel are unconstitutional. Simply put, a person who is not elected, and not held accountable by the populace, has a lifetime appointment and is allowed to dictate what is and what is not legal in America. We must start holding the justices of the Supreme Court accountable. A majority of state supreme courts appoint, or retain, their justices through the election process. Every state has either a term length for their justices, and/or a mandatory retirement age. We need something similar for the United States Supreme Court Justices. They should be held accountable for their actions by the American people.
By holding these justices accountable for their actions, maybe they will think about the consequences of their decisions and listen to the American public instead of trying to force their beliefs on all.Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
