The reason why Rebel Moon seems to fit in so well with the Star Wars universe is that it was initially conceived by Zack Snyder to be a Star Wars movie. However, upon pitching the screenplay to Disney, the idea was rejected and Snyder had to go down a different path., Snyder made it clear that the lack of known characters and “R” rating conflicted with Disney’s vision.
