Chewbacca has a vicious reputation when fans meet him in the original trilogy, but how did he get it? A preview of Han Solo & Chewbacca 6 shows the Wookiee attempting a prison break, and he's pulling no punches.
Chewbacca's darker side is being explored in the Star Wars galaxy with a new preview for Han Solo & Chewbacca. While the mighty Wookiee is typically a warrior with a code of honor, his loyalty to Han Solo can motivate him to take extreme measures and to even fight dirty to protect those he loves. As seen in this new preview, Chewbacca has no problem with "prison rules" either, especially when he's quite literally been imprisoned while Han is in danger.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In previous issues of Han Solo & Chewbacca from Marc Guggenheim, David Messina, and Paul Fry, Jabba the Hutt had contracted Han and Chewie to retrieve a valuable urn containing the ashes of one of his rivals. However, Han was conned by a man claiming to be Solo's estranged father Ovan, though it was eventually revealed he was just interested in the urn. Now, the Millennium Falcon and urn are missing while Han Solo has been shot by none other than Greedo.
6 Images Close While Chewie already discovered Maz Kanata's presence on the prison world in the previous issue, the news that the legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett will be Chewie's other cellmate is very exciting. Combined with the surprise assistance from Phaedra, it looks as though the Wookiee will soon have a rather formidable crew to help him break out. Additionally, he'll likely do whatever it takes to make that happen .
Chewbacca has displayed some implied darkness in the past via brief comments or scenes referencing his ability to rip the arms off of his opponents. However, just as many moments have seen the Wookiee's great compassion for his allies, family, and friends. That being said, threatening those he cares about seems like a surefire way to find out just how dark Chewbacca can be. Clearly, It doesn't seem wise to get on a Wookiee's bad side in the Star Wars galaxy, including Chewie's.
