Summary While there are still frustrations about Disney's Star Wars continuity purge in 2012 and turning so many Expanded Universe tales into non-canon Legends, it did end up correcting a major mistake with Darth Maul's origins and status as a Sith Lord. The Phantom Menace debuted Darth Maul as the Sith apprentice to Darth Sidious aka Palpatine.
