Stampeders voice Mark Stephen, colour-guy Greg Peterson part of Alberta hall call yyc

“So many other great teams and people that are in there from football, but there’s a lot of other great people from other sports,” Stephen said. “So that’s pretty exciting. It’s a pretty amazing list of people that are going in, have gone in and will go in it.

“Just that I’ve had a chance to do pretty much everything I’ve wanted to do in terms of broadcasting and doing that with people in circumstances that I’ve wanted to is what I’m most proud of,” Stephen said. “And I think the fact that I just approached everything with a good work ethic and approach every day and I’ve been able to carry on and, hopefully, provide people with what they’re looking for and doing a good job is important to me.

“It’s a big honour,” Peterson, 63, said. “It’s unexpected, but anytime you put forth the effort to do things for minor football, I’m just glad that it happened. On the other hand, I’ve gotta give credit and all kinds of accolades to those who’ve helped me along the way. So it’s quite enjoyable, and I feel blessed to have received the honour.

“Mark is the best play-by-play guy in the CFL,” Peterson said. “And the fact that we’ve been doing it for so long is amazing. This is our 25th year, and nobody’s even close to breaking that record. So it’s an honour to do it with such a good guy as Mark. And, yeah, to be able to be inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame at the same time as him is unique. I don’t think it’ll ever happen again. And I’m proud of that.
