“I think the way we played last year, we were obviously very happy with how we played, but just compete with what we did last year,” Sceviour said. “I think, obviously, the goals are to be better, so under 17 would be the goal for sacks and the running game, I can’t remember the exact yardage, but obviously more than that. We’ve got three great running backs in the room, so we think we can do that.
Doing so would involve playing at an extremely elite level, and when McEwen was asked about what “better” would look like in 2023, he didn’t give a number or a specific stat.“I just think we can’t let last year’s performance cloud what we need to do,” McEwen said. “We need to make sure we come out firing from Day 1 and just treat it as if we’re working from the ground up. Obviously, it’s a long season and you improve over the season, so we just want to make sure we can do that.
