Saturday’s matchup was probably not a game that would convince casual fans who were tuning into their first CFL game that they needed to make the league appointment-viewing. Offence was hard to come by, to be sure.Article content On Saturday, they made a decent Argos offence look completely pedestrian. Maybe that’s being generous. The Stamps made the Argos offence look straight-up bad.“It really is unbelievable,” said Stamps quarterback Jake Maier. “That was one of the best defensive performances I’ve ever seen, to only give up two points, and it wasn’t even really that, it was two singles, I believe.
Maier completed 17-of-24 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing two interceptions. It is worth noting that Malik Henry was out for most of the second half and Jalen Philpot missed time, too, so it was a tough assignment for the Stamps QB, and he did make completions to seven different receivers.
It wasn’t nearly as dominant a performance from the offence as it was from the defence, but it was more than enough to get the job done.
