The victory moved the Paisley Saints level with Rangers in second spot and opened up a seven point gap on their nearest rivals.

St Mirren shook off some early ring rust to thump St Johnstone and strengthen their position at the top end of the table.

Substitute Toyosi Olusanya then made an impact off the bench, racing onto Mandron's clever ball in behind before teeing up his strike partner to complete his brace. Returning Nicky Clark's free-kick was easily dealt with by Alex Gogic, while at the other end Conor McMenamin tried his best to weave some magic on the wing. His dangerous cross was just over the head of Mark O'Hara though, with the home side just not clicking early on.

Liam Gordon then did his best to fashion an opener, swivelling on edge of the box before curling into the family stand.
