Megan Sooley is as comfortable fishin' and quadin' at her Goobies cabin as she is designing haute couture or attending New York fashion shows. Get to know about her in this week's 20 Questions.
In 2018, the business moved to Water Street, and growth has been steady ever since. It started as a one-woman operation and was then a two-person business for several years, but today Sooley Designs employs 10 people.
"I also did all of that growing up, but there was always a sewing machine," Sooley explains."She would make our Halloween costumes, and she always was just going and fixing things and stuff like that. It was something that I was interested in. Sooley Designs specializes in clothes that offers luxury and comfort. The company produces plenty of dresses, but also does knits, pants, jackets and scarfs, amongst other items. Sooley said her designs can feed off the changing seasons."If it's cold out one day, I could design a sweater that works perfectly for our climate. It's freezing, I want something that's going to be long that I can sit on, right up around my neck. Something I want to feel cozy in.
"There's been a bit of a transition in my designs from the really fitting, revealing, all that, to more casual, comfy clothes."
