Two members of the ultra-progressive congressional group “The Squad” on Monday appeared to confuse two holidays honoring U.S. soldiers in a pair of now-deleted X posts.
Rep. Cori Bush, D-Mo., and Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., each initially wrote posts commemorating Memorial Day, a holiday dedicated to soldiers who died defending the U.S. However, their posts appeared to celebrate and call for assistance for living veterans, as Americans do on Veterans Day. This Memorial Day and every day, we honor our veterans in St. Louis,” Rep. Bush’s now-deleted post read. “We must invest in universal healthcare, affordable housing, comprehensive mental health services, and educational and economic opportunities for our veterans as we work to build a world free of war and violence."
