offensive surge
“He’s learning the decision-making part,” Popovich said of Sochan’s offensive surge. “Sometimes he goes faster than everybody on the team. He’ll get into situations that give him a little bit of a problem. But his effort and his aggressiveness outweigh everything else. He’s doing a great job.” Sochan’s increased productivity on the offensive end also coincides with his decision to follow a request by Popovich and assistant coach Brett Brown that he shoot free throws one-handed.
“I don’t think it’s courageous,” Sochan said. “I think it’s just a matter of fact of who I am. I’m a person who stays true to myself. I stay creative, good energy. If it’s the right thing to do, I’m going to do it.”Wednesday’s game against the Lakers marks a homecoming for Spurs forward Stanley Johnson, a Los Angeles native.
