In his first interview with the media since undergoing thumb surgery three weeks ago, Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan said before Wednesday's game he could be just 'days' away from returning. 'I've been wanting to play since last week, but I still got to stay patient and just follow protocol,' he said. The Spurs could have used Sochan's tough, take-no-prisoners approach against the Lakers .

Sochan fractured his left thumb in the second quarter of a 113-104 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Nov. 4 and missed the rest of the game. The Spurs have not announced a timeline for his return, but Johnson said Sochan 'could potentially be ahead of schedule.
