Spurned ANC believed it had been close to agreement with EFF
“We wish to explore a possible partnership with the EFF at local government level, based on the principles outlined above and the areas of commonality between our parties, as well as a commitment to developing a transformative and developmental local government that gives priority to dealing with basic service delivery matters such as electricity, water, sewerage, waste collection, focal economic development, and investment in small towns and cities, with haste and urgency.
In the letter to the EFF, the ANC also outlined its principles and policy issues of 2021 local government election deliberations and negotiations. The ANC would partner with a party that was: Willing to commit to a stable working relationship for the duration of the term of office. Stability was a very important consideration for the ANC;
