The Vees took control of the game early on and never looked back
One night removed from clinching the Interior Division, the Penticton Vees met up with the Prince George Spruce Kings Saturday night at Kopar Memorial Arena, going on to defeat the northern-most team in the BC Hocket League 4-1.
Through the opening period, neither team was able to find the back of the net as the two sides entered the first intermission scoreless. As the period was ending, the Spruce Kings were given a power-play opportunity of their own inside the final minute of play. Forward Ty Gagno passed the puck to John Herrington, where the Spruce Kings all-star fired a shot in past Levy with five seconds left in the middle frame to get the Spruce Kings back within a goal. The goal goes down as Herrington’s 20th of the season.
