SA sprinter Adams considering legal action against ASA
South Africa’s 200m sprinter Luxolo Adams is considering taking legal action against Athletics South Africa. This after Adams failed to make the athletics team selection panel for the edition of the 2024 Olympics in Paris which starts on Friday.
The South Africa’s athletics mother body opted for 400 metres World record holder Wayde Van Niekerk, to be part of team South Africa. Adams missed two crucial races this year. He says no proper consultation was done with him before the final team selection. “I am considering taking them to court because, I don’t know how that decision came about, it’s heartbreaking, it’s every child’s dream to compete in the Olympics. I made the qualifying time, I did compete last year on numerous occasions.”Athletics South Africa President James Moloi says the Federation has also acknowledged that it has received a letter from Adams’ lawyers.
“According to the policy of ASA, if athletes have an inquiry or a problem, he was supposed to call us or sit down with us and lodge his complaint, but he never did that. Yes, we received a letter from his lawyers, and we tried to explain our story to explain why he was excluded, ASA only needs the best athletes and they were already qualified.
