Rivalries make elite sport the special thing that it is. The Springboks and New Zealand’s All Blacks have shared the stage, or the spoils, for the most special moments in Rugby World Cup history. Since September 2018, these sides have contested 11 battles. Each side has won five and the other was drawn. Of those 11 contests, seven finished within a two-point margin. That’s 64% of those matches going right to the wire. In this sample, The All Blacks have scored an average of 22.8 points per game, the Springboks 23.5. Talk about tightly-contested clashes.With seven titles between them, South Africa and New Zealand are the dominant and preeminent forces in world rugby.
