Furthermore, Mbonambi had to be replaced with Duane Vermeulen coming back on and Deon Fourie moving to hooker. Mbonambi appeared to be favouring his shoulder.Rassie issued this key update on the Springboks squad moments ago.
“We’ve spread the load with player minutes. We know this is definitely going to be a close match, but we are in a fortunate situation in that all 33 players are not showing injuries and should be available for selection,”Thankfully, du Toit and Mbonambi seem okay. Therefore, they should both be fit and available for the Rugby World Cup semi-final against England. Meaning, Jacques Nienaber has a full squad of 33 players to choose from.
This is fantastic news and a welcome change as the Boks have had their fair share of injuries throughout the season.They have lost world class players such as Malcolm Marx and Makazole Mapimpi. Furthermore, Lukhanyo Am, Handre Pollard and Lood de Jager were all ruled out of contention when Nienaber named his 33-man Rugby World Cup squad at the start of the tournament.
