The Bok Women scored five tries in the first half, four of which were converted by Jakkie Cilliers, and looked impressive as they executed their brilliant forward-dominant game plan. In the sixteenth minute, a third attempt at an attacking maul was again stopped short, but this time the Springboks shifted the ball wide to Ayanda Malinga, who scored in the corner.
The Barbarians had a brighter start to the second half, pulling one back 10 minutes after the interval when Kendra Cocksedge scored after pouncing on a mistake by the host team in their own half. The Baabaas lost a player to the bin for a reckless tackle, and the Springboks didn’t need a second invitation to make their numerical advantage pay, as Nadine Roos slashed through the defence for their seventh try, which Cilliers also converted.‘We really need to start the programme of getting these players on how to live a proper lifestyle,’ Cathsseta CEO Marks Thibela said.
