Springbok incoming: Sharks continue crazy spending spree

The Sharks are showing no signs of slowing down Springbok recruitment drive, with yet another double World Cup winning signing for them.

The Sharks have announced the acquisition of two-time World Cup-winning Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane for next season.

The veteran Springbok joins the Sharks after a productive and successful three-year stint Paris-based, where he made 47 appearances in all competitions since moving to France from the Bulls in 2021. However, his contract was not extended beyond the 2023-24 season, allowing him to negotiate a return to South Africa.

At 34 years old, Nyakane is close to the end of his playing career, but his move to Durban is proof that the Sharks higher-ups belief he can still do the job of anchoring their front row, considering can scrum down either side of the hooker.He will join fellow Springbok stars Ox Nche, Bongi Mbonambi and Vincent Koch as the Sharks’ front row options.
