Bennett was a renowned jazz musician and signer who earned 20 Grammy Awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Some of his most notable hits included “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “Rags to Riches” and “Because of You.” In 2014, Bennett released “Cheek to Cheek,”and “Love For Sale,” a follow-up album in 2021.
The release of their second collaboration broke a Guinness World Record for Bennett for being the oldest person to release an album of new material at 95 years and 60 days., just two weeks short of his birthday. No specific cause was cited for his death, but Bennett had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2016. In a press conference on July 23, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer announced he would submit a resolution to the Senate to recognize Bennett’s Aug.
