The five-time Ballon d'Or winner came up through Sporting's ranks as a teenager and went on to make 31 appearances for the Primeira Liga club's senior side before leaving for his first stint in the red half of Manchester.
Now 37 years old, the legendary Portuguese striker is still keen to continue his illustrious career by competing at the highest level of European football in the UEFA Champions League, something United are unable to offer him next season.However, it seems Sporting will not be doing so either, with the club's manager, Ruben Amorim, suggesting there is no truth to rumours Ronaldo could return to the Portuguese side in this transfer window.
