“The Little Mermaid,” which opened last week and made a big splash in theaters, fell to second place, with $11.8 million in sales.after IMDB announced it was changing its rating system due to “unusual voting activity” involving the film.
Horror-thriller “The Boogeyman,” also released Friday, came in third, with $5.9 million in sales. It is based on the short story of the same name by Stephen King.“Fast X,” the 11th installment in the Fast and Furious” franchise, flew down to fifth, with earnings of $2.6 million.
