The promise of Spider-Gwen's Avengers-like team up remains more exciting than the reuniting of the three iconic live-action Spider-Men.

Since the multiverse became an integral concept within the world of Marvel's superhero filmmaking, discourse constantly surrounded the team-up of the live-action Spider-Men.
Since then, audiences have been wondering when the "Golden Trio" of live-action Spider-Men would unite again, or even if they will at all. The most recent appearance of Holland came in the 2021 film, while Garfield and Maguire were featured in limited cameo roles in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Sony Animation's exploration of the endless Spidey multiverse.
While Maguire and Garfield technically appeared in the film, they were only utilized in visual callbacks to their respective canon events. Neither played any major role in the story, nor did Holland aside from a brief reference from Spider-Man 2099. While all three could likely have been worked into the film's story, Across the Spider-Verse wisely opted to avoid this in favor of telling its own story which is mostly separate from the live-action Spider-Men.
Gwen Stacy's Spider Super-Team Is Better Than Bigger Cameos This is proven at the end of the film when Gwen builds her Spider-Man team to save Miles. The team consists of Gwen, Peter B. Parker, Spider-Man India, Spider-Punk, and Spider-Byte from the second film. Returning from the first film were Spider-Man Noir, Penny Parker, and Spider-Ham to round off the roster that will be heavily featured in the highly-anticipated culmination of the Spider-Verse trilogy.
This team proved to be better for the film than huge cameos from the live-action Spider-Men. Not only do they exist within the same animated medium as Across the Spider-Verse's main characters in a way the live-action Spideys do not, but they also make a lot of sense for the story. All characters involved have somewhat of a connection to Miles and his story, meaning Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse's Spider-Team felt much more organic than simply forcing in big, live-action cameos.
