A speeding driver who killed a 70-year-old woman in a fatal car crash has dodged jail. Chloe Bell, 21, killed Anne Lythgoe and seriously injured her friend in the collision, reports Manchester Evening News.

Meanwhile, her friend was thrown 16metres into an adjoining field. Anne died just hours later, at around 11am, in hospital after succumbing to her injuries. Charlotte Crangle, prosecuting, told the court that "once the loss of control occurred it was impossible to rectify." A statement from her friend who was injured in the crash said: "Losing my best friend felt devastating she was the salt of the Earth within the community. Everyone knew her she was lovely. Everyday I think I am lucky to be here."
