The Cape of Good Hope SPCA took on the Two Oceans Marathon for the 10th time to raise much-needed funds for animals in need with runners lacing up their running shoes and raising a whopping R70 000!

It’s always heartwarming to know that amongst all the sad stories you hear about the abandonment of animals, there’s some good news thrown in between. While many of us were overindulging in picked fish and hot cross buns, a few South Africans took to the streets to run an ultra marathon.

Amongst the fit few was the Cape of Good Hope SPCA which took on the Two Oceans Marathon for the 10th time to raise much-needed funds. Each year, the organisation encourages and invites fellow runners to participate in the half and ultra marathons to help raise funds for our furry companions. This year, the organisation managed to raise an incredible R70 000 as eager runner laced up their shoes and collected their medal, as perNot all superheroes wear capes… sometimes they don a cat costume to raise money for our four-legged friends. Amongst the runners was, who ran his 10th ultramarathon, but this time in a cat costume.

Don’t worry, this was no average costume. The costume was designed using breathable, lightweight running material with a three-quarter shorts that are perfect for athletes. This year, 27 runners took part in Run2Heal animals – four ultramarathon and 23 half marathon runners.Also read:
