SparkCharge’s technology builds on modules of lithium-ion batteries, called Roadies, that can be delivered to wherever a driver wants a charge. The service can be accessed through the company’s subscription-based app called Currently.

“In most cities, there’s a pizza place on every block, but people will still use DoorDash or UberEats just to save time,” Aviv said. “We as a society will continue to go with convenience when it gives us time to do something else.”Download the Currently app and create an account. Users must provide their billing information, as well as make, model and year of their electric vehicle. SparkCharge also needs the vehicle’s license plate number and the state where it is registered.

For now, each charge delivers a vehicle up to 50 miles of range and can provide no more than 80% of a full charge. The U.S. is on a 120 grid. That means fully charging a vehicle can take longer than overnight. For faster performance, voltage and costs both increase. Level 2 charging requires special outlets, that may be found on dryer hookups in laundry rooms or in some garages.
