Spanish countrymen to square off in Nedbank Cup quarter-finals as AmaZulu host Orlando Pirates
Spanish countrymen Jose Riveiro of Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu's Pablo Franco Martin will square off in Durban in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup. The draw for the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals has set up an intriguing battle between Spanish coaches Jose Riveiro and Pablo Franco Martin.
Orlando Pirates' Nedbank Cup defence will take them to Durban for their clash with AmaZulu in the quarter-finals of the country's premier knockout competition. Usuthu, the tournament's finalists in 2010, are led by Pablo Franco Martin, who has made a quick transition in his first season coaching in the Premier Soccer League .
Martin was not happy that the fixture, which was postponed to give Pirates time to prepare for the MTN8 final, was rescheduled a few days after their meeting against Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Knockout in Johannesburg, while the Buccaneers had played earlier and had more time than them to prepare. The match ended in a goalless draw, with Usuthu taking two vital points from Pirates, whose DStv Premiership ambitions started falling off around that fixture.
