Spain’s women players have released a collective statement to deny they have asked for head coach Jorge Vilda to be sacked.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation claimed on Thursday that 15 players from the senior side had asked not to be selected as the current set-up was affecting their “health” and “emotional state”.
Vilda has coached Spain Women since 2015. His side reached the quarter-final of this summer’s European Championship where they lost to eventual winners England.
