SpaceX achieved its 300th successful touchdown of a Falcon 9 first-stage booster on Tuesday, nine years after landing the first one.
Space X has been launching and landing rockets since 2015, though admittedly some of those early touchdowns didn’t go as planned and ended in a ball of flames.
Recommended Videos Tuesday’s mission to deploy 23 Starlink satellites in orbit got underway from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 6:17 p.m. ET. SpaceX live streamed the milestone mission on social media: About eight minutes after launch, the Falcon 9’s first stage made a perfect upright landing on the Just Read the Instructions droneship stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
