Two Lesotho nationals who claim that they were wrongfully arrested for the killing of 16 people at Mdlalose Tavern in Soweto have vowed to sue the state. | ntwaagae
Immediately after they were released by the Orlando Magistrate's Court on Monday, the two men were handed over to Home Affairs officials because of their illegal status in the country.
"We have been saying this from the onset, that they have arrested the wrong people. They were arrested in September last year. They have been in custody since," said Rahlagane."We are going to sue the state for wrongful arrest. There is no way that charges will be reinstated against my clients. They are illegal in the country. They are currently being deported to Lesotho.
The six men cannot be identified because the court ordered the media not to release their identities. NPA regional spokesperson Phinidi Mojondwane said charges were withdrawn against the six after thoroughly analysing the dockets.
