With 3 months left until 2022, Southwest is catching up to its competitors and hiring for 2,500 roles
Greg Muccio, the director of talent acquisition at Southwest, said he is sending out a"tiger team" of 10 employees to airports across the country for on-the-spot interviews and, in some cases, instant job offers. His team does a marketing push for several weeks ahead of job fairs in three separate cities, and they hold the interviews at the end of the month before moving onto new locations. Muccio estimated each location yields about 200 hires.
"We're not lowering the bar," Muccio told Insider."We're very fanatical about making sure that we hire to our values." Despite the pandemic-induced fluctuations in the airline industry, Muccio emphasized Southwest's reputation as an employer and career mobility.
