After a Tuesday meeting in Dallas between city officials and Southwest, the airline threatened to file a lawsuit against the city if they didn’t delay the deadline for the execution of the new airport leasing agreement.

In the memo, Walsh said Nirenberg began the meeting by reassuring airline officials that their interests were aligned. Nirenberg also reminded them about the $200 million allocated toward improving their current terminal, which Nirenberg said allows them to grow. In addition to wanting reassurance from the city, Southwest asked the city to delay the execution of the new agreement, which is set to go into effect on Oct. 1.
