Southport FC are on the verge of new owners after owner Ian Kyle agreed a sale
The Big Help Group are set to become new owners of Southport Football Club after reaching an agreement with owner, Ian Kyle, subject to National League ratification.
They became naming rights holders for Haig Avenue to become the Big Help Stadium, as well as enhancing the club’s opportunities and the Community Foundation to develop their initiatives. In a statement posted by the club, Kyle said: "My family and I got involved with this fantastic club at a time of turbulence and upheaval. We have come a long way since that first post-Back the Bid game against Bootle when we struggled to field 11 players.
"Recent events have shown that it is not easy to sell a football club, or get people to invest, who are the right people. I am very pleased and confident that Peter Mitchell, and the Big Help Group, are now the right people to take this club forward. The change sees the Southport chairman depart his position after steering the club away from precarious waters during the Coronavirus pandemic, which saw it suffer significant losses during a torrid period for non-league football.
