One person is dead and four are in hospital — including two children — after a two-vehicle collision on Saturday along a southern Alberta highway yyc
The crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 529, just south of the village of Champion, located about 150 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
Mounties say a pickup truck was southbound on Highway 23 when it was struck on the driver’s side by a westbound SUV travelling on Highway 529. The driver of the truck was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the SUV, a 34-year-old man, and two young children who were in the back seat were taken to Calgary hospitals by ambulance. The passenger, a 33-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital by STARS air ambulance.The Vulcan RCMP is asking anybody with dash-cam footage of the incident to contact the detachment at 403-485-2266.
